Our accomplishments in the past fiscal year were many, despite the challenges of rising food costs, inflation, increased number of clients in need, etc. Our greatest strength has always been the quality of our volunteers and staff. They are dedicated. They are diligent, and they are committed to making WARM better. Members of WARM will continue to carry out its mission. Please review this annual report to learn more about the impact WARM is having on our community.
We’ve just completed Thanksgiving Blessing. We were honored to serve 475 families including 72 seniors. The retail value of each Blessing box was $122.86 (Up 20% over last year) with an average distributed weight of 73 pounds per family. We were blessed with 123 volunteers who endured cold temperatures to provide a total of 430 volunteer hours on a Saturday in November. Thank you!
WARM’s Share Bac A Pac program provides healthy foods and snacks to children who are at risk of hunger on weekends and school breaks when free and reduced meals are not available. Use the link above to access the most needed items. If you have questions or would like additional information regarding this program, please contact Chad Maxeiner, Manager, Nutrition Services & Facility at 614.899.0196, ext. 229. Thank you for your support to help feed children at risk of food insecurity in our community.
Many people are living one emergency away from hunger in our community. Today, that emergency is inflation. A lost job, a medical emergency, a changing family dynamic can all throw an individual or family living from paycheck to paycheck into a food crisis. Add today’s crippling inflation and the crisis worsens. Inflation raises prices and lowers purchasing power. Nationwide, grocery prices have seen the largest increase since 1979, leaving food banks struggling to meet the needs of increased demand from the food insecure in our communities. Lower income households are harmed the most. This includes adults, children, and the elderly. Every community in the country is home to families who face hunger on a daily basis. Locally, in the Westerville community: There are 134,000 in WARM’s service area 28,000 (1 in 5 or 21%) are living below the 200% Federal Poverty Level 12,000 children 13,000 adults (ages 18-64) 3,000 seniors (ages 65+) Your donation CAN make a difference!
